Born on 12th September 1997, Delhi Public School Numaligarh was established under the aegis of Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) - itself set up in accordance with the historic Assam Accord of 1985 as a vehicle for the region's industrial and economic progress. Managed by the Delhi Public School Society, New Delhi, the school has grown from a founding strength of just 55 students - including 20 hostellers - under its first principal Mr. R.R. Pathak, to a thriving institution that today serves approximately 1,430 students, of whom 140 are resident boarders. Nestled within the sylvan landscape of the Brahmaputra valley in Golaghat district, the school carries the DPS motto "Service before Self" as an operating principle.

Affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education, DPS Numaligarh offers classes from Nursery through Class 12 with Science, Commerce, and Arts streams at the senior secondary level. The CBSE board results for 2025-26 reflect strong outcomes - in Class 10, toppers Hardik Riyan and Nabhaswan Bhatta each scored 99%, with over two dozen students crossing the 95% mark. At Class 12, Shivangi Todi led the Commerce stream at 96.4%, while Bedastuti Kakati and Deepshikha Barua each scored 95% in Arts, and Jaskeerat Kaur topped Science at 94.6%. The school is also a regular host of the CBSE Far East Zone Tennis Tournament, reflecting its standing in competitive sports circuits across the North East.

The campus infrastructure includes separate senior and junior blocks, each with their own science laboratories, libraries, and audio-visual rooms. The senior school houses individual Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Computer labs, while a dedicated Mathematics laboratory and Music and Art rooms round out the creative and analytical learning spaces. A school clinic operates in coordination with the VKNRL hospital, Numaligarh, with regular medical check-ups for students. The NCC junior wing is active for both boys and girls, and educational tours and excursions feature regularly in the school calendar.

Admissions for the 2026-27 session are open, and the school follows a structured entrance-based admission process with results published on the website. The hostel facility - with published rules, schedules, and a dedicated prospectus - makes DPS Numaligarh accessible to families from across Assam and neighbouring states.
