In 1961, Late Lala Chanan Lal ji Ahuja - a well-known philanthropist of the Fazilka region - donated a large piece of land to establish what would become one of the most rooted educational institutions in this part of Punjab. The school began as Bal Vidya Mandir, later became D.C. Model School, and in 2006 was taken over by the DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi, receiving its current name: Dayanand Chanan Lal Senior Secondary School, Fazilka. Located on SDM Court Road in Civil Lines, Fazilka, the school has over six decades of presence in this border-district town, serving families from across Fazilka and the surrounding areas of Ferozepur district with co-educational, English-medium schooling from Nursery through Class 12.
